Tammy L. Kernodle
Tammy L. Kernodle is University Distinguished Professor of Music at Miami University in Ohio, where she teaches in the areas of African American music... and gender studies in music. Her work has appeared in numerous peer-reviewed journals and anthologies. She is the author of Soul on Soul: The Life and Music of Mary Lou Williams, which examines the pianist/arranger's multi-decade career. Kernodle currently serves as curator and scholarly consultant for New World Symphony's I Dream A World Festival, which celebrates and amplifies the music of black composers in the concert hall.
