The Melbourne Symphony Orchestra’s “East meets West” concert series has become a cause for public disquiet. Introduced by MSO Chairman, David Li, a decade ago, it’s sponsored by China’s Melbourne consulate and Ministry of Culture and Tourism, an arm of its propaganda department. In the second of this two-part program, China influence experts question the engagement and promotion of certain Chinese artists as well as the connections of some sponsors to China’s notorious agency for foreign interference, the United Front Work Department.
