President Biden trying seeking to calm France down amid fallout from the AUKUS security pact between the US, UK and Australia.
After a five-day standoff, the US and France have made efforts to ease tensions.
President Emmanuel Macron agreed to send the French ambassador back to the US after a phone call with Biden who pledged not to cut Paris out of future decisions in the Indo-Pacific region.
The two leaders agreed to meet in Europe next month.
But will that make any difference? And will Europe go it alone in defending itself?
