South Africa, India marking 125th anniversary of an incident seen as the Indian independence leader’s first act of civil disobedience.
South Africa and India have marked the 125th anniversary of a significant moment in their histories – when Mahatma Gandhi was forced off a whites-only train.
After his experience, Gandhi began a campaign to put an end to racial discrimination and oppression through non-violent means.
This is seen as the Indian independence leader’s first act of civil disobedience.
