Portugal fan on facing Morocco next
Portuguese fans here in Lusail are happy they are through to the quarter-finals but know the task ahead is going to be difficult. They face Morocco on Saturday. And the North Africans stunned former world champions Spain earlier today.
“Playing Morocco is going to be more difficult than Switzerland. It is very clear to us that everyone in Qatar wants Morocco to win,” Mateo Oliveira said as he left the stadium after Portugal demolished Switzerland 6-1.
“But we have very experienced players. It will be a tough game for sure but we will win. We will get to the semi-finals.”
Santos’s masterstroke
Fernando Santos dropped Cristiano Ronaldo for Gonçalo Ramos and João Cancelo for Raphaël Guerreiro – and was rewarded with a hat-trick from the former, and a goal & assist from the latter. That's an incredible return for the manager.

What. A. Goal. He finds space down the left wing, cuts back and lets fly from the corner of the box. Sommer can only see it fly into goal. That was special.

Ten minutes left
Probably not enough time for a comeback:
Bicycle kick from 20 metres out
No, it’s not Ronaldo. It’s Embolo. Acrobatic attempt and it goes out for a corner. Embolo has been Switzerland’s best player today.
Portugal make a change: Bernardo Silva is off, Ruben Neves is on.

The final whistle can’t come soon enough for them. They’ve been caught in a blitzkrieg here.

As you were.

He’s one goal shy of reaching Eusebio’s record of nine goals in World Cup matches for Portugal.
But there we go – it’s Ramos again, scoring his second goal of the evening. You couldn’t write a better script. Coach Santos made a huge call and it’s paying off. The fans are loving it, waving the Portuguese flag and raising the roof.
