What are the real dangers of vaping?
We ask a team of experts just how safe are e-cigarettes.
According to a CDC report there have been 1,479 lung injury cases in the United States including 33 deaths linked to e-cigarettes or other vaping products. So far, none of the cases have been linked to a specific brand, substance or product. Although some patients acknowledged they had vaped THC, the psychoactive ingredient in marijuana.
The issue is not likely to be seen beyond the United States according to health experts in the United Kingdom because there is more regulation on vaping products and oils containing THC is illegal there. Still, India, which is home to one of the world’s largest adult smoking population has banned the sale of e-cigarettes.
Meanwhile, the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) is on a mission to figure out what is going on, and enlisted more than 140 scientists and staff to investigate the mysterious injuries.
So is vaping safe and when should e-cigarette users be concerned? We’ll ask health experts at the center of the investigation those questions and more on this episode of The Stream.
