- Nigeria beat Cameroon at the Stade Felix Houphouet-Boigny in Abidjan, in the second of the knockout games at the 2023 African Cup of Nations in Ivory Coast.
- Ademola Lookman scored both goals while Victor Osimhen won back possession and laid on the pace for the opener.
- The Super Eagles will face Angola in the quarterfinals after the southern Africans beat neighbours Namibia 3-0 earlier on Sunday.
- Cameroon failed to register a shot on target in a match that was a repeat of the 1984 final, which was won by the Indomitable Lions.
- Equatorial Guinea take on Guinea while Egypt face DR Congo in Sunday’s games.

Victor Boniface has missed out on the tournament due to a calf injury but will no doubt be giving his full attention and support.

The first quarterfinal is confirmed as Angola will face Nigeria for a place in the last four.
Gelson Dala scored twice and set up one to take the Player of the Match award for Angola as they beat Namibia 3-0.

Cameroon failed to register a shot on target
No other stat can sum up the difference between the teams more than Cameroon’s failure to register a shot on target.
Although not relentless, Nigeria always seemed the closer to creating a chance.

The five-time champions are out
Cameroon weren’t able to meet Nigeria on the field.
The three-time champions progress and the Indomitable Lions couldn’t keep up with Super Eagles.

The Super Eagles soar to the quarterfinals.

Nearly an own goal
Castelletto blocks the cross from the right and nearly turns into his own net but he bursts back towards his goal line and hooks clear under pressure from Osimhen.

Nkoudou launches another ball into a packed area and again it flies over everyone and out for a goal kick.
That sums up the night for Cameroon. That final ball has failed all game.

Nigeria counter from a Cameroon free kick and Iwobi exchanges a one-two to burst into the box but completely mishits his shot and it goes well wide.

Tolo slides to deny Aini with the goal gaping.
Simon squared after Nigeria burst down the left and Tolo kept Cameroon in the tournament with that block.

Another wasted free kick
Cameroon pump the ball into the box and Aboubakar is also up there now but the set piece is dealt with by Nigeria without any trouble once again.

Nwabali has to come off
Nwabali is stretchered off and Uzozo replaces him in goal; Omeruo also comes on for Sanusi for Nigeria.
Aboubaker comes on for Gonzalez for Cameroon in the meantime as a striker replaces a defender.

Nwabali is injured claiming the ball after a collision.
It’s taken some time to tend to his shoulder.

Former Nigeria striker Daniel Amokachi is the summariser for the official broadcast of the match and says he hasn’t heard anything like this at any of the games he has been at.
Osimhen has another ball hit too far ahead of him but the threat is clear now at the back.

A deep free kick for Cameroon is hung to the back post but Wooh goes in too hard on the Nigeria keeper who remains down and needs attention.
