Full-time
The referee blows the whistle as Australia make a statement with a resounding 4-0 victory over Indonesia.
The scoreline suggests they dominated and while they certainly found their quality in the last 10 minutes, it was all together a scrappy and unconvincing performance given the opponents they had.
Indonesia will gain some positives after showing plenty of spirit and attacking intent but ultimately, it was the gulf in class that proved their undoing.
Full-time: Australia 4-0 Indonesia
Struick picks up yellow
Probably more out of frustration given the current scoreline.
With that, he will miss the next match he plays in, not that it is consequential at this juncture.
90+4 mins: Australia 4-0 Indonesia
GOAL!
Souttar heads in from a free kick to make it an emphatic victory for the Socceroos.
It is Goodwin who provides the delivery and the tall central defender does well to steer it past Ernando.
Goodwin has been terrific in the little time he has been on the field.
Meanwhile, we will have just four minutes of added time. Maybe more now, given those back-to-back goals.
90+1 mins: Australia 4-0 Indonesia
GOAL!
Goodwin makes an instant impact to ensure Australia’s progression into the quarterfinals!
It begins with Atkinson’s cross from the right side into the box.
He finds Irvine who strikes a powerful volley at goal.
Ernando does well to block it, but can’t prevent the rebound from reaching Goodwin, who fires it to his right side.
89 mins: Australia 3-0 Indonesia
Australia win dangerous free kick
Irvine passes it off to the left side.
The ball is sent into the box but nothing comes of it.
Meanwhile, Australia’s Bos and Bacchus are subbed off in favour of Aiden O’Neill and Craig Goodwin.
86 mins: Australia 2-0 Indonesia
Atkinson tests from long range
He lets it fly from about 35 metres out, just right of centre.
The ball comes in low, but just goes wide of the near post.
85 mins: Australia 2-0 Indonesia
Duke fumbles glorious chance
A deep ball from the halfway line finds a rampaging Duke, who is able to create separation from his marker.
Ernando rushes out to meet the challenge.
Duke opts to go for a chip, but is well off target as Australia were perilously close to making it 3-0.
82 mins: Australia 2-0 Indonesia
Indonesia win corner
It is sent in by Hubner on the left side.
He fires it into the middle, but Ryan is able to punch it away from danger.
79 mins: Australia 2-0 Indonesia
Indonesia make change
It is the end of Sayuri’s involvement as he is taken off in favour of Rizky Ridho.
75 mins: Australia 2-0 Indonesia
Another pair of corners fizzle out
The second corner is headed away by the Indonesian defence before a third is sent well over the box.
Wasteful effort from Australia as a third goal would certainly provide some insurance at this stage of the match.
75 mins: Australia 2-0 Indonesia
Australians earn corner
Atkinson immediately leaves his mark on proceedings by earning a corner on the right side with a pulsating run.
The delivery is sent in but is headed away by an Indonesian defender.
The ball is recovered by Australia who send in another cross, but the ball is deflected out for another corner.
73 mins: Australia 2-0 Indonesia
Walsh booked, Jones subbed off
It is turning into a rather scrappy affair as now Walsh gets into the act.
The Indonesian defender extends his leg to take down a rapid Bos near the halfway line.
Soon after, Jones is subbed off after getting the yellow in favour of Nathaniel Atkinson.
69 mins: Australia 2-0 Indonesia
Jones brandished with a yellow
Jones might be in some trouble here, after tripping Struick close to the touchline in retaliation.
The Australian stuck his foot out after being taken down by Struick earlier while going for the ball.
The Indonesian players are up in arms immediately after the incident.
The referee shows the yellow card and Jones is lucky not to have VAR look into it as it was certainly an inflammatory response.
65 mins: Australia 2-0 Indonesia
Sulaeman hacked down
The sub endures a baptism by fire as he gets knocked down by Rowles after looking to go up for an aerial ball.
Rowles is lucky to get away with that by the referee.
62 mins: Australia 2-0 Indonesia
Australia make a double change
Riley McGree and Fornaroli are brought off as Connor Metcalfe and Mitchell Duke rush onto the field.
61 mins: Australia 2-0 Indonesia
Indonesia make substitution
The captain, Asnawi, is subbed off in favour of Witan Sulaeman.
The players continue to show plenty of spirit, which is remarkable given the scoreline.
57 mins: Australia 2-0 Indonesia
Indonesia continue to probe
Ferdinan sends in a deep ball from the left side into the box, but fails to find a receiver.
They have shown intent to progress the ball up the field, but Australia’s back four have been resolute so far.
54 mins: Australia 2-0 Indonesia
Both sides settling into half
It hasn’t been quite the free-flowing start we enjoyed in the first.
Australia look content to hold their lead based on the early exchanges.
49 mins: Australia 2-0 Indonesia
Second half under way
The players are back out for the second half.
It is Australia’s turn to kick things off as they look to preserve their lead.
Indonesia have shown glimmers here and there, so it will be interesting to see how they handle these next 45 minutes.
46 mins: Australia 2-0 Indonesia
Half-time
It has been a captivating first 45 minutes of play.
While the scoreline suggests Australia dominated, Indonesia have certainly shown plenty of quality and fight.
They were unlucky with the earlier goal after Baggott’s intervention.
They were able to make some threatening advances on the Australian end, but have struggled with their finishing.
It is Australia’s match to lose as the teams head into the tunnel.
Half-time: Australia 2-0 Indonesia
Three minutes added
We will have just the three minutes of added time.
45+2 mins: Australia 2-0 Indonesia
GOAL!
Boyle scores with a low diving header to put the Socceroos up 2-0!
Jones deserves all the credit here as he delivers a wicked cross from the right side which evades a few Indonesia defenders.
Asnawi is guilty of ball watching as he fails to see Boyle harrowing in from the left.
Boyle times his dive superbly as he heads it through the gap at the near post.
Unbelievable goal there and Indonesia are really up against it as we near the interval.
45 mins: Australia 2-0 Indonesia
Australia earn first corner of match
It is taken from the left side.
McGree is tasked with sending it in, but goes long.
Australia are able to recover and send it back in, with Souttar playing the ball back to McGree as he went out of bounds.
McGree tries again from closer range inside the box, but fails to find a suitor.
45 mins: Australia 1-0 Indonesia
Sayuri chance goes begging
Hubner spots Ferdinan on his right side outside the box.
Ferdinan duly sends in a threatening cross to Sayuri, who is on the left side of goal.
However, Sayuri fails to latch onto it as he sends the ball over the near post.
Australia were once again exposed and are lucky Sayuri didn’t get the opportunity to control that chance.
39 mins: Australia 1-0 Indonesia
