China’s women strive for change

Despite efforts to improve conditions for women, their options remain limited.

The constitution in China provides equal rights for men and women. But there is still some way to go.

While they make up more than one-third of the work force, women represent 60 per cent of the unemployed, and about 70 per cent of those in China who are illiterate are female.
