Drug violence in Ciudad Juarrez causes businesses to flee once prosperous city.

Before it was overrun by drug cartels and gripped by almost daily shootings, Ciudad Juarez was a prosperous Mexican city that thrived on its close links to the US.

Now the violence is forcing many businesses to shut up shop and leave.

Medium and small scale businesses have been hit particularly hard, with 10,000 closing down in the last 18 months, and more than 100,000 jobs lost in 2009.
