Australian bikers fight new gang laws

Bikers head to High Court over Queensland law stating two gang members are not allowed to be in same place at same time.

Biker gangs in Australia say that they are being unfairly targeted by legislation aimed at cracking down on violence and organised crime.

The government calls the gangs, or ‘bikies’, a “criminal menace to society”.

In the state of Queensland, new laws mean more than two gang members are not allowed to be in the same place at the same time.

The bikers have taken their case to the High Court to challenge the restrictions.
