Opposition boycotts Togo parliamentary elections ahead of polling

Citing irregularities, a coalition of 14 opposition parties has called for an overhaul of the electoral commission.

Amid violent protests and military action, Togo is going ahead with its parliamentary elections with voting scheduled on Thursday.

The protesters want President Faure Gnassingbe to resign. Citing irregularities, a 14-party opposition coalition has appealed to people to boycott polling.
