The Golden Temple

In one temple in India people come together in one of the largest free kitchens in the world.

From a culture of sharing we have become a culture driven by possession and profit. The world produces enough food to feed twice the world’s population, yet every day almost one billion people will sleep hungry.

This short film comes from the kitchens of the golden temple where every day around 100,000 people, regardless of colour, caste or religion, donate, prepare, consume and clean for nothing more than compassion.

In this temple in Amritsar, India, up to 100,000 people a day are fed for free. Here people come together in one of the largest free kitchens in the world.

The Golden Temple aired on Sunday, January 16, 2011 at 2055GMT.
