Why China’s exploitation of Uighurs implicates Western brands
Beijing’s internment of ethnic minorities in Xinjiang has Western companies scrambling to unwind supply chains.
The United States and European Union have imposed sanctions on Beijing for its treatment of Uighurs. Up to two million have been placed in internment camps in Xinjiang. Many have been forced to retrain and sent to work in factories and cotton fields across China.
Anita Dorett, director of the Investor Alliance for Human Rights, explains why investors are concerned.
