Why is the UK planning to outlaw Palestine’s Hamas group?
Fury is growing in Palestine after Britain’s interior minister says she is banning Hamas.
The United Kingdom is on the cusp of designating all of Hamas as a “terrorist organisation”.
It comes as UK Home Secretary Priti Patel, who will present the change to parliament in the coming days, says there is no way in distinguishing between Hamas’s political and military branches.
If approved, the move would not only hinder the group but affect people in Gaza who rely on social welfare programmes that Hamas manages.
Hamas is already designated a “terrorist group” by the European Union, the United States and Canada.
But what will the implications be?
