How will the Suez Canal blockage disrupt global trade?

Global shipping has been thrown into chaos because of a mishap on a major waterway.

The Ever Given, one of the world’s largest container ships, ran aground and blocked the Suez Canal in Egypt.

That’s created a tailback of other cargo vessels carrying billions of dollars’ worth of goods in both directions between Asia and Europe.

Egypt says it hopes to be able to dislodge the ship soon and reopen the canal, but experts fear it could be weeks before that’s possible.
