Taiwan elects ruling party candidate that China disapproves of

Taiwan has elected William Lai Ching-te, a candidate Beijing sees as a ‘dangerous separatist’, to lead the self-governing island. In his victory speech, he said his ruling Democratic Progressive Party has always sought good relations with China.
