Has Biden’s European tour strengthened US alliances?

The US president has been telling Europe and the world that ‘America is back’ – but do they believe it?

United States President Joe Biden has spent the week meeting with European leaders, including his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin.

It can be called his “I’m not Trump” tour, in which many European leaders indicated relief that the “America First” agenda of Biden’s predecessor is over – for now.

A looming cloud is the fear that all Biden’s talk about a new era of Transatlantic cooperation and alliance could subside again, if the Republican Party makes a comeback in the coming years.
