Al Jazeera’s Investigative Unit has obtained secret documents that reveal a plot by Eastern European oligarchs to profit from billions of dollars, believed to have been stolen by the removed Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovich.
Yanukovich was overthrown in 2014 and officials froze $1.5bn of assets soon afterwards.
But the money’s return to Ukraine is far from guaranteed.
