Global fight against Aids stalling, warns United Nations

Death toll in Eastern Europe and Central Asia rises by 5 percent in the past nine years, and 9 percent in the Middle East and North Africa.

The United Nations has said the global fight against Aids is stalling.

Though the number of HIV-related deaths has fallen by about a third since 2010, it warns funding to keep up the fight against the epidemic has dropped off significantly – by nearly $1bn last year.
