UNESCO labels Sundarbans of Bangladesh ‘World Heritage in Danger’

The World Heritage Centre of UNESCO has declared largest mangrove forest on earth, the Sundarbans of Bangladesh, as a ‘World Heritage in Danger’ site.

The future of World Heritage sites is being discussed at the annual meeting of the United Nations‘s cultural and scientific agency in Azerbaijan.

A third of 166 UNESCO protected sites are considered to be under threat.

They include the Sundarbans Mangrove Forest in Bangladesh.

It is facing several dangers, both natural and man-made.
