Colombia’s indigenous risk lives to remove illegal drug crops

Move risks increasing violence after officials say indigenous leaders have been murdered by armed groups profiting from drug trafficking.

A group of indigenous people in southwest Colombia is vowing to rip out illegal drug crops, despite increasing the risk of violence.

That is despite five of their leaders being killed this week in the region. Officials say they were murdered by armed groups that profit from drug trafficking.
